More InformationBüsum: With timpani and trumpets
© TMS Buesum GmbHIn 1900, a Hamburg bather named Alfred Rehder took a lively street band playing music to the Büsum mudflats – creating a cheerful tradition that will celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2025: Wadden walking with music includes mud dancing, polonaise, egg running and tug-of-war – and of course the baptism with seawater by a real Büsum original, the Wadden President Momme Claußen. The musical mudflat walks are unique experiences and take place regularly between May and September. Learn more
St. Peter-Ording: Full wind power ahead!
©stock.adobe.com/majonitThe wheels whirr quietly over the sand, the wind fills the sails and the speedster really takes off. The feeling of being whisked across the beach by the wind is downright addictive. In any case, there is no better terrain for beach sailing than the sandy expanse of St. Peter-Ording. Buggy kiting allows you to glide almost silently over the dreamy beach, pulled by a colorful kite and wind power. It is an exhilarating experience. Beginner sessions or courses up to a pilot’s license are available for aspiring drivers starting at age twelve or for those 155 cm or taller. https://strandsegeln-spo.de/, http://buggyfahrschule.de/
Hallig hopping: a flying visit to paradise

The MS Seeadler takes you to Oland, the oldest Hallig, and its little sister Gröde, accompanied by a national park ranger. On the five-hour nature tour the rangers are known to carefully fish out an aquatic creature or two for brief observation before being returned to their underwater home.

At the Multimar Wattforum, the information center for the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park in Tönning, you can get up close and personal with a gigantic sperm whale, discover seahorses in the algae forest or watch otters being fed, and peruse their 37 aquarium tanks. The little ones will love the climbing forest; you can take a moment to relax while they practice acrobatics like otters swirling through a kelp forest.

Amrum – On the road
© stock.adobe.com/Aufwind-LuftbilderHave you ever seen a beach on the move? We have! The Kniepsand, a 15-kilometer-long and 1,500-meter-wide sandbank off the west coast of Amrum, is on the move. Over the centuries, the sandbank moved closer and closer to the island until it practically merged with it and today forms an enormous series of dunes that are still shifting. This beach is perfect for hiking, playing in the water and swimming.
