What is your favorite place in Schleswig-Holstein and why?

I love being on the beach. As a child, I used to do my homework under the old pier in Scharbeutz. The bridge has since been renovated, but the place still means home to me.

What is only available in Schleswig-Holstein?

The best fish sandwiches right on the Baltic Sea! They’re always good between meals and nowhere else taste as good as here.

What do you miss about Schleswig-Holstein when you are traveling or living somewhere else?

Especially the peace and quiet. I’m constantly on the road, traveling from hotel to hotel. When I’m back home, in Schleswig-Holstein, I know that I have a few days of peace and quiet to visit my family and take some time for myself.

Have you ever addressed your home country in one or more of your songs?

More than once! In my single “Frische Luft” (Fresh Air) at the time, I described the feeling of wanting to get out of the small village where I grew up. I wanted to think outside the box and not be confined. My last album “Irgendwo Ankommen” then describes the feeling of coming back after all the experiences and travels. To the village where I felt confined back then and which is now the retreat I long for.

When does the Schleswig-Holsteiner in you come out?

I need the vastness, the sea and the freedom, and I get that most here. When I’m somewhere else, I never find anything that comes close to this feeling for me.

Where were you born and where do you live today?

I was born in Bad Oldesloe, and today I live in a small village near Lübeck. I spent my childhood on the Baltic Sea and still have many memories of it.

What do you particularly like doing at home?

I love walking along the beach and meeting up with friends from home for a cozy meal at a beach restaurant.
